How to become a member

1. Eligible dancers include anyone with a positive attitude who is energetic, committed, driven with a passion for performing.
2. Dancers must have at least 1 year prior experience in the chosen dance style.
3. Dancers chosen for our competitive dance team will be notified during our recommendation form distrubution each May.
4. Dancers interested in our competitive dance team can also tell the studio director or dance instructor.

Requirements & Extras of being a member

1. All team dancers must meet minimum requirements of dance hours with NO EXCEPTIONS. All members must be enrolled in 1 ballet class (2 is prefered), 1 technique class of the dance style they are on team with (such as jazz, tap, or hip hop), and 1 rehearsal hour per dance style per week. For dancers 7 and up, we also require enrollment in a tricks, stretch, and flexibility class. The team is a privilege and if the teacher feels a student is not fully participating with the right attitude it is up to their discretion to remove that child from the team.
2. There will be a minimum of 3 competitions attended each year with a possible 4th.
3. Team jackets, dance bags, and garment bags are mandatory.
4. There are extra costs involved with competing. Competitions have entrance fees between $25 and $90 per dance per competition, depending on size of routine. Costume fees are also higher due to additional rhinestones or other accessories added.
5. Parent's must read and sign a competitive dance policies sheet.
6. The time commitment for team dancers is higher and attendance to all classes is mandatory and essential. Each dancer is a valuable member of a team and the rest of that team depends on them to come ready to work hard, practice at home, and show a positive attitude. If the student misses more than 5 classes (with the exception of extreme illness or medical reasons) the student will be asked to leave the team. If a member is unable to attend, they must call ahead and inform the teacher. Be prepared for extra classes and rehearsals that can be scheduled. Also, if a dancers falls behind, the teacher can ask for the student to set up private lessons, which are at an additional cost.
7. Dancers can not miss any rehearsals 3 weeks prior to any competitions. The dancer will not be allowed to comepete at that competition.
8. All members of the team are expected to dress and behave in an appropriate manner befitting a team member. We are supportive and encouraging of all team members and to all other performers, whenever, wherever we encounter them. We will always be role models of good sportsmanship at every event we attend.
9. It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure their child(ren) makes it to each competition on time, dressed, and ready to dance.
