City organized lessons are usually in 6 or 8 week sessions. AMM allows for students to continue month after month. This allows for continuous progression in learning dance with the same instructor and style of dance. City lessons also might not have a proper size limit for younger students. AMM limits 3-6 year old class size to 6 students, 7-10 year old class size to 8 students, and 10-adult class size to 12 students. This allows for each student to receive the individualized attention necessary to enhance every students learning experience.
All AMM instructors have trained for years in their area of expertise; some have university degrees and others have worked professionally in the dance industry. Our teachers are not only chosen for their qualifications, but for their love of teaching and their ability to relate to the students.
When the situation arises where student and teacher personalities don't mix or where the student is unhappy, we try to find another instructor with available class space or we can try a different style of dance with a different teacher.
We have many teachers on our faculty. Once you decide on a day and time that fits your schedule, we can give you all the information on that particular teacher. There is no point in giving you detailed information on a teacher that you won't be taking lessons with, or who don't have space available on their schedule.
As long as space is available we can move you or your child into another style of dance.
Tuition fees are based on family enrollment, so if you take 1 class and your child takes 2 your tuition would be 55 + 39 + 32 = $126 rather than 55 + 55 + 39 = $149.
Other than the Parent & Me classes which do require a parent to be in the classroom, all other parents can see how the class is going through the observation window. If the parents sit in every week it is too distracting for the students. There are too many authority figures and the children either lose class time looking for Mom and Dad's approval, or they act out to see what reaction they will get. We encourage parents of young students to wait in our waiting area or stay close by in case they are needed.
Two siblings can enroll in dance class together as long as they fit within the age of the class. Check with the front desk if you are unsure.
Our adult classes are 18 years and older only and our students range in age from 18 to 50+.
Moving up in levels for dance depends on the student and how well they are picking up dance technique and how much they practice. Most students that have never taken dance previously usually move from beginning level to intermediate in 2-4 years. Older students that understand the use of their body can move along quicker.
AMM offers Parent & Me classes for children as young as one.
The half an hour beginning movement class is open for those children that have not had previous structured activity experience or that have difficulty following directions and being around other children for long periods of time. The hour class is open for those children that have had experience being away from mom or dad through other structured activities or pre-school.
As long as space is available in the class you are interested in, enrollment is open. We do have some deadlines to be in the annual recital due to costume ordering and for each student to learn the choreography well enough to perform the dance, but students can still enroll in classes and not have to commit to the recital.
To participate in the annual recital, we do have a deadline. Not only does the enrolling student need enough time to learn the choreography, but we also need enough time to order the costume required for the dance. The deadline can fluctuate slightly each year due to the recital date changing depending on availability of the recital venue. When you enroll you can check with the front desk on the actual recital date.
The annual recital is not a requirement for enrollment in dance classes. Most students really enjoy the recital and look forward to performing, but if the recital is not what you are interested in then let the desk staff know at the time of registration.
The Parent & Me class encourage the development of social skills and different movements through child appropriate songs and dances. Parent-assisted warm ups, dance steps, and exploration activities are included in each class. Each week combines repeat movements as well as introduces new activities.
Our recital costume fees are based on age of the student. Costume fees are as follows: 3-6 year olds= $49 per dance class enrolled in, 7-9 year olds= $59 per dance class enrolled in, 10-12 year olds= $69 per dance class enrolled in, and 13+ year olds= $79 per dance class enrolled in. We break up the total payment into 2 payments.
The registration fee is to confirm your enrollment in classes so someone else doesn't get your spot in the class you want.

Dance offers stimulation of both sides of the brain that most other sport activities do not. For example, dancers learn and practice dance steps on both sides of their bodies, while most other sports only concentrate on one side that seems stronger than the other. Also, dancers are taught counts and specific steps which involves the left logical side of the brain, while also using the music to guide them and tell a story through their body movement using the right creative side of the brain.
