TINY TYKES (AGES 2-3)

These classes are for 2 and 3 year olds just starting the exploration of movement through dance. This half hour class will introduce basic dance steps in ballet and tap and encourage social skills such as taking turns and learning from others. We include several fun activities to spike your child's interests and teach them creative movement.

COMBO CLASSES

For children ages 3-6 as an introduction to ballet, jazz, tap, or hip hop depending on the class chosen. The primary goal is to foster a love of movement. The creative component is quite large. Several fun or special activities happen in each class. For example, a scarf or flag dance at the end can facilitate the dancer's own physical expression. Taking part in dancing out a narrative helps children to understand that dancing is expression. It is a means of communicating feelings and actions. The vocabulary covered in class is steps which 3-6 year olds can master so they build self-confidence.

JAZZ VERSUS HIP HOP

Jazz style of dance is what is seen in many Broadway type shows such as "Wicked". It is a more structured, stage style of dance. Hip Hop is a fast, high energy type of dance seen in music videos and commercials.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

Lyrical can be best described as an emotional drawn dance combining jazz and ballet movements. Contemporary is jazz-based movements.
